Description
An account of the resource
Welcome to the research file on Edgar Allan Poe's "The Raven." Comprising seventy-five documents, this file is the largest of all of Mabbott's research files. In addition to being the largest file, it represents Mabbott's editorial idiosyncracies more than any other research file among his papers.

Most of the items exhibited in this collection contributed to Mabbott's introduction to the poem, his account of textual variants, and the editorial notes in the Collected Works. Description
An account of the resource
Manuscript note on an index card stating that Margaret Barton contacted T.O. Mabbott after finding a clipping of the New York Tribune printing of "The Raven" in a box of funeral invitations. The publication venue and the date do not match: The date given, February 8th, would have been in the New-York Mirror (text B) or The Broadway Journal (text F); the date of the Tribune printing (text E) is February 4th.
