Description
An account of the resource
Manuscript scrap relating to "The Murders in the Rue Morgue." The note beginning "Dupin lived in false nighttime" refers to the unnamed narrator's comment about Auguste Dupin (and, by way of influence, the narrator's) being "enamored of the Night for her own sake," so that, when night wasn't with them, they would "counterfeit her presence." See also note 6 in Mabbott's version of the tale. <br /> The handwriting is T.O. Mabbott's. The word "murders" in red ink in the upper right corner of the scrap is in Maureen Cobb Mabbott's hand.
